Amato brings a wealth of experience in the field of fitness and wellness and spent last year as the director of the new Trudy Fitness Center at Colgate. She oversaw the organization, management and administration aspects of the fitness center and also managed all the recreational fitness programs, personal training services and group fitness classes.? She supervised five personal trainers, while also coordinating sales and managing payroll. Amato also was the strength and conditioning coach for the men's and women's squash club team.
In addition to those responsibilities, Amato implemented a new marketing and communication plan for the fitness center, which included printed and electronic materials like posters, flyers and campus-wide emails. She also assisted in the development of the Trudy Fitness Center website and social media sites.

Prior to her time as the Director of the Trudy Fitness Center, Amato was a graduate assistant at East Carolina University as part of the campus recreation and wellness. She assisted in the development, implementation and evaluation of wellness and physical activity programs, which included classroom and residence hall presentations and workshops. She had an active role in supervising a staff of 14 student trainers and also performed fitness assessments.
While at ECU, she worked with the Fitness Instruction Testing Training (F.I.T.T.) program, which does exercise testing for university and local community professionals for risk assessment and diagnostic purposes. She earned her Master's degree in exercise and sport science in 2011.
Amato is a 2009 graduate of Eastern Connecticut State University, where she worked in the athletics, recreation department and intramural sports. She was a student supervisor and assisted with game day operations for Division III athletics.
She is a certified clinical exercise specialist since 2010 and is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine, the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance and also the National Intramural and Recreation Sports Association.
