Meningitis is preventable. Eradicating it will prevent deaths, seizures, blindness, amputation, paralysis, and learning disabilities. A vaccination, Infant Meningococcal, exists that is currently not on the pediatricians Vaccine for Children Program schedule.
The US Center for Disease Control and Prevention wants input and has planned public meetings in Seattle, Denver and Chicago this summer. Maybe you can?t be there, but you can still have a say. It is your responsibility to give them your input on if babies two and younger should receive infant menigococcal vaccine already approved by the Food & Drug Administration. Please seriously consider signing The Meningitis Angels petition. Please let the CDC know loudly and clearly just where you stand.
